A selection of galleries (which will continue to be expanded) about a very old small pond very close to where I live.

It has an abundance of wildlife ranging from the occasional Kingfisher to dragonflies and the odd thirsty bat in the heat of summer. There are three pairs of resident Moorhens - each pair having their own strict territory and woe-betide another that crosses the line!

Over the years, the pond has not been without its problems. The worst of the problems encountered on this pond have been caused by irresponsible people that choose to dump their garden goldfish into this pond when they dont want them any more. This has contaminated the pond twice over recent years with a very invasive and destructive pond weed called Azolla. The latest invasion is documented in the gallery called 2011 Azolla on the pond. Please take a couple of minutes to follow its progress, and hopefully its recovery.

Thanks for looking.
